My Bookish OTPs

Happy Valentine's Day! Since it's the day of love, I figured the best blog post to write would be my favorite bookish OTPs and boy do I have a lot of them. These are the best of the best of the couples I've read in books and I hope this will inspire you to pick up these amazing books.
WARNING: I don't consider pairings to be spoilers per say (except a few notable ones) but if you still don't want to know anything about any couples from any books you may want to skip this entry. Most of these are well known but still- beware and proceed with caution.
Now without further ado- my top OTPs (not ranked, this was hard enough):
- Anne Shirley and Gilbert Blythe from Anne of Green Gables by LM Montgomery.
The first OTP I’ve ever read and loved since third grade, ever since she cracked a slate over his head when they were kids all the way till they're married. They were born for each other. That's the only truth.
- James Potter and Lily Evans from the Harry Potter series by JK Rowling.
Even though we didn’t get a book about them (still bitter about that), I love them and their dynamic from the beginning when he was a bully and she was calling his BS. I wish we had a Mauraders book or TV show (even Daniel Radcliffe wants a Marauders TV show).
- Peter Kavinsky and Lara Jean Song Covey from the To All the Boys trilogy by Jenny Han.
Duh. Fake dating is one of my favorite tropes and this is the one that tops them all. I swear, before I die I will write a contemporary with a fake dating plot. Peter and Lara Jean have the sweetest and cutest relationship ever. I want a Peter Kavinsky. Everyone should have a Peter Kavinsky- or John Ambrose if that's your thing.
- Percy Jackson and Annabeth Chase from Percy Jackson and the Olympians series (and etcetera) by Rick Riordan.
UMMM, duh again. I love Percy. I love Annabeth. I love Percy and Annabeth together. They met when they were 12. They had the best friendship ever, but it eventually blossomed into something more. Friends to Lovers as a trope was born for these two.
- Katniss Everdeen and Peeta Mellark from the Hunger Games trilogy by Suzanne Collins.
I was always Team Peeta. I don’t understand Team Gale, so sorry if you are. I respect it. I don’t get it, but I respect it. I love their growth and their slow building of trust throughout all three books. The development between them is so wonderful. It’s fantastic.
- Kaz Brekker and Inej Ghafa from the Six of Crows duology by Leigh Bardugo (my favorite author of all time).
This is perhaps the best relationship ever written and I will fight anyone on it. It’s a painful slow burn and for majority of the books, you’re doubting it’ll ever happen but it does- kind of. It’s not perfect like all the wrapped-in-a-bow, all's-well-that-ends-well relationships we usually see in YA, but it’s perfect because it’s real and raw and beautiful. They're both scarred and broken but they're stronger together. I just love them both so so much. I can’t form coherent sentences to explain my love for this ship. I swear, Netflix better not screw them up.
- Audrey Rose Wadsworth and Thomas Cresswell from the Stalking Jack the Ripper series by Kerry Maniscalco.
Swoon. That’s it. That’s all. SWOOOON. Maybe it's the gore and blood that make them so appealing to the reader. *shrug* I love Audrey Rose and Thomas. Their relationship/dynamic/personalities/everything match and compliment each other so well. I shipped them from the moment Thomas first entered Audrey's uncle's lab.
- Elias Venturias and Laia of Serra from the Ember in the Ashes quartet by Sabaa Tahir
I’ve loved this ship since book one and they’ve continued to break my heart, mend it back together piece by piece, and then rip it out again every. single. time. I’m fine. It’s fine. Give me book four please and thank you.
- Ella and Char from Ella Enchanted by Gail Carson Levine.
Another OG OTP. Ever since I first read Ella Enchanted, I’ve fallen into deep love with Ella and Char as characters and their tender and young relationship. They support and care about each other unconditionally. I love them so much…
- Iseult det Midenzi and Aeduan from the Witchlands series by Susan Dennard (a queen).
I just talked finished Bloodwitch (book three) and it's only solidified by love for them. Ever since book one, Truthwitch, this ship has been golden. This is the second best relationship ever written- fight me. It’s hate-to tolerate-to allies-to love and it’s PERFECT the whole way through. I love them together so much. They’re the perfect match for each other. They balance each other out, make each other stronger, and are so so great together. It’s so good. AGH. I can't believe I have to wait a year for the fourth book. Everyone is sleeping on the Witchlands. Go read it if you love complex, action packed fantasy with political intrigue, strong female friendships and empowerment, and wonderfully complex characters. Also, if you're a writer Susan Dennard offers invaluable resources for writing via her newsletter.
. Will Herondale and Tessa Gray from the Infernal Devices by Cassandra Clare
Even though I’m technically married to Will Herondale, I love this ship so much. Will had his issues but he and Tessa’s love has only been stronger for it in the end. Their chemistry from book one has made me swoon and squeal out loud. Their relationship is a burning flame or a rose or a book I don’t know. I’m not good at analogies. But they’re perfect, there you go. I love them together so much. Don't get me wrong, i love Tessa and Jem together too but Will is my love.
- Simon and Blue from Simon Vs the Homosapiens Agenda by Becky Albertalli.
Ever since I read the first email between the two of them, I fell in love with them. Simon is so cute and dorky and wonderful and Blue is so sweet and kind and loving and together they’re so amazing and perfect. I can’t help but gush, but it’s soo soo good. I want a sequel about them in college).
- Jude Duarte and Cardan Greenbriar from The Cruel Prince trilogy by Holly Black
The best hate to love- but technically still hate- relationship I’ve ever read. They hate each other so much but they also love each other so much. It doesn’t sound like it makes sense but it’s all true. Trust me. They're both not good or bad (morally gray) and they're both scheming masterminds who won't hesitate to betray the other. This is one of the most addicting ships ever and I want moreee. I can't wait for book three especially after that ENDING.
Honorable Mentions (without explanations):
- Jason Grace and Piper McLean from Heroes of Olympus by Rick Riordan.
- Cammie Morgan and Zach from Gallagher Girls series by Ally Carter.
- Harry Potter and Ginny Weasley from Harry Potter by JK Rowling. People who say this came out of nowhere are LIARS. Read the subtext people, it's been here all along (Taylor Swift reference).
- Liam Stewart and Ruby (what’s her last name?) from the Darkest Minds trilogy by Alexandra Bracken.
- Tessa Gray and Jem Carstairs from the Infernal Devices by Cassandra Clare.
- Will and Nico (Solangelo- so cute, also my first gay favorite couple) from the Heroes of Olympus by Rick Riordan.
- Ron Weasley and Hermione Granger from Harry Potter by JK Rowling
- Jace Wayland (don’t want to spoil anything) and Clary Fray from the Mortal Instruments by Cassandra Clare.
- Simon Lewis and Isabelle Lightwood from the Mortal Instruments by Cassandra Clare.
- Magnus Bane and Alec Lightwood from the Mortal Instruments by Cassandra Clare.
- Jesper and Wylan from the Six of Crows duology by Leigh Bardugo
- Nina and Matthias (and those of you who’ve read King of Scars- that one too) from the Six of Crows duology by Leigh Bardugo.
- Cinder and Kai (heart eyes) from the Lunar Chronicles by Marissa Meyer.
- Juliette and Warner from Shatter Me trilogy/series by Tahereh Mafi- love this one.
- Vivia and Stix (Stacia) from the Witchlands series by Susan Dennard. This one is still relatively new (from Bloodwitch), but I dig it completely.
Okay, I'm done. That was a lot to type but there's probably more that I'm missing. Also, I wanted to acknowledge that most of these ships are f/m and I've especially noticed that today. In fact, only five of these ships are f/f or m/m (four being m/m and one being f/f- yikes) and then since Nina's bi- that's one more (COUGH COUGH- if you know, you know *wink*) I'm being honest, I haven't been reading as much LGBTQIAP+ fiction as I've wanted to but it is one of my goals (for every year) so hopefully this list will include more of them in the future.
So that checks out for this blog post. Hope you enjoyed or found yourself intrigued with a particular ship or pairing and their respective series.
No mourners, no funerals,
