What do you know, this post is late... again. And not just a little late, but like a... LOT late. Yikes.

I apologize but high school kind of sucks. That is my excuse, yes, deal with it. But I'm here now and I'm very much in the mood for talking about songs I love to get my mind off reality.

This month's playlist is a little shorter because I've been busy but there are a lot of good songs (in my opinion) on it so without further ado, here's sixteen songs:

1) Speechless by Dan + Shay

This song has been popular for ages but I apparently just now got the memo. Whoops. I see why everyone loves it though- the voice and the rawness of this song is really nice.

2) Miss Americanah and the Heartbreak Prince by Taylor Swift

Listen, I'm an intellectual, I love Taylor Swift and I think she's a really talented songwriter/singer/performer but I was still utterly surprised with how much I adored her latest album. Lover is lovely. This song is fantastic and even though I don't quite get it, I love it.

3) Paper Rings by Taylor Swift

This song is so upbeat and fun and I love the beat of the lyrics and the chorus is one I find myself randomly shouting out during the day for no reason at all (maybe one of the reasons people look at me weird).

4) Cruel Summer by.. Taylor Swift

I'd apologize for the back to back Taylor Swift but apologizing means you've done something wrong and listening to these songs are definitely the right thing to do. I now have two songs called Cruel Summer that I adore of all things.

5) Cornelia Street by Taylor Swift

This is the last one from Lover- more emotional and slower but still every bit as addicting and lovely. The lyrics from this one are so real and honest and that makes the impact that much more effective.

6) Don't Blame Me by Taylor Swift

We'll end this Taylor Swift chain with a throwback to Reputation (still a superior album). This song is great and different and amazing. That's all.

7) I Dare You by the Regrettes

This is an underrated hidden gem and I 10/10 recommend if you haven't heard it. I'll admit, it took a while to grow on me, but when it grew on me, it really put its roots down... We'll ignore that awful metaphor and instead pay attention to what a great song it is! The band is also an all-girl power squad.

8) Strip That Down by Liam Payne ft. Quavo

This one is really only on here because I've heard it so many times this month (coming up on my 1d playlist and also playing in literally every Pacsun in the entire world- what is it with this song and Pacsun??) This is not a type of song or genre that I normally listen to...like ever but maybe it's because it's my man Liam Payne that I actually like it??? A lot??

9) Therapy by All Time Low

Shoutout to a fanfiction I read on ao3 that mentioned this song and also to one of my best friends who recommended All Time Low to me. I'm not always in that mood but when I am, this song is perfect to jam out to.... more like listen and hum along to aggressively while ironing patches and trying not to burn your fingers but same thing right? ;)

10) People by the 1975

I love the 1975 and I loved their old vibe but this new vibe is intriguing too. To be completely honest, the song scared the shit out of me when it started playing. I was not expecting that. I was not disappointed though. (Goodbye Chocolate, hello emo/punk).

11) July by Noah Cyrus

This song is just beautiful. Like that's the only word that can properly sum it up. When I first heard it, I closed my eyes, tipped my head back, and thought, "Yes, this is what I need."

12) Just A Little Bit of Your Heart by Ariana Grande

Sometimes I like to torture myself by listening to sad songs in the shower that I don't really relate to in experience yet still feel a connection to.

13) Dangerous Woman by Ariana Grande

Sometimes I also like to listen to badass songs in the shower and pretend I'm a professional singer and that the notes that come out of my mouth are actually on tune and flawless when they're really, really not.

14) British Bombs by Declan McKenna

I don't know much about British politics but I love Declan and I love this song. That's all I really need. The message is important though, relating to politics or not.

15) Are You Bored Yet? by Wallows ft. Clairo

According to one of my friends, every 14 year old who thinks they're special listens to and loves Wallows but I have no problem being basic when their music is this good. Literally, their voices are like angels. Clairo included. Angels. Bless me.

And last but not least:

16) Crash my Car by COIN

They're still so underrated!! Literally, if you've never listened to COIN before, go do it right now. I'm serious. Go do it. Right now. I mean it.

Okay but this song is wonderful just like all their other songs.

My hand kind of hurts right now (still recovering) but I'm just going to wrap this up by just expressing my utmost appreciation that all my favs are releasing music right now. Literally, I don't know what we've done to be so blessed. I've already got a bunch more new releases on my list for September so be ready for that (hint: Lana del Ray, Louis Tomlinson, and King Princess WILL be featured).

So until next time folks when hopefully I'll be on time, my hand won't hurt, and I'll actually be enjoying (or let's be realistic, tolerating) high school!!

No mourners, no funerals,
