I enjoyed writing the last music themed post so much that I couldn't help but do another one. So without further ado, here's my favorite songs of May (feat a LOT of One Direction.... seriously, you have been warned).
There's twenty total songs and they are in no particular order but here they are:
1) Trust Fund by Why Don't We
This is my first Why Don't We song and it was a pleasant surprise. It's not my usual type of song (rapper-esque is what I mean) but it's so damn catchy. I intend to listen to more from this band in the future.
2) What a Feeling by One Direction
Ugh, I love this song SO MUCH. It's probably my favorite 1D song to date and it may even break the top five in songs for me... Hmmm. What I love about this song is the atmosphere that is created with lyrics and by the background music. The vocals in this are also incredible. I also think Made in the AM is officially my favorite 1D album (maybe I should do a 1D themed music post for my next one... hmm). If I had a significant other, this would have to be our song, there's no other option. Through the wire, through the wire, through the wire...
WHAT A FEELING TO BE A KING BESIDE YOU SOMEHOWWWW. I WISH I COULD BE THERE NOW..
3) Angel Eyes by ABBA
Can't be a playlist for me without some good old ABBA on it. This is perhaps one of my favorite ABBA songs out there which is saying something because all of their songs are really great. The chorus is always stuck in my head and it's just so so so good.
4) all the good girls go to hell by Billie Eilish
Another Billie song, who would have thought? This is just one that I constantly am singing to myself in my head and of course it's good, it's fricking billie eilish!
5) Steal my Girl by One Direction
This held the previous spot as top 1D song and I still absolutely love it so much. Especially the second verse: "kisses like cream, her walk is so mean, and every jaw drops when she's in those jeans alright.." and I guess the first verse (second half ) is pretty great too: "I got it on cuz she is the one, her mom calls me 'love', her dad calls me 'son' alright." It's just a bop guys. I hate that word but that's what it is *shrug*
6) Heart Attack by One Direction
One of my favorites from their second album, Take Me Home, and another really fun, catchy song. It's also on the list of songs I listen to when thinking of whoever I currently like at the moment so there's a fun fact. Also, Niall Horan screaming, "OW" in this song gives me life.
7) I Would by One Direction
Whoa, what? ANOTHER ONE DIRECTION SONG?? HUH?? This one is also a favorite from their second album (what can I say) and even though the lyrics are kind of hilarious (imagine Harry Styles walking home in the rain though, c'mon) this song is fantastic, especially the chorus.
8) End of the Day by... oh darn, I forgot. (Yes it's another 1D song, gosh).
Another "bop" from their last album. I don't know why I love this chorus so much but it was literally ALL I sang for two days straight: "All I know at the end of the day, is you want what you want and you say what you say and you follow your heart even though it'll break someti-ei-ei-ei-mes!"
9) This Town by Niall Horan (1/5th of One Direction.. I have a problem).
This Town is honestly one of the best songs to ever exist on this earth and it makes me so emotional every time I hear it. Especially the line, "If the whole world was watching, I'd still dance with you." It gives me goosebumps but then again I'm a hopeless romantic. I'd like to think I'm a realistic, hopeless romantic, but that's probably pushing it.
10) Pompeii by Bastille
I'm sure everyone knows him now because of Happier but before Happier there was Pompeii which is truly one of the greatest songs of all time (my #2 to be specific, second only to the great Viva la Vida). His voice is so unique and so so so good. His accent = amazing, his vocals = amazing, the lyrics = amazing, the music = AMAZING. I can't.
11) Me! by Taylor Swift ft. Brendon Urie
Aka the most unexpected but also amazing collabs of all time. I mean, it's Taylor Swift... and Brendon Urie??? It doesn't sound like it makes sense but worked so well. This song is so fun, bright, and happy and colorful. I didn't think a song could sound colorful by Tswift did it. Also when Brendan Urie says, "I never want to see you walk away..." It gets me every time. They're icons.
12) Death of a Bachelor by Panic! at the Disco
While we're talking about Brendan, might as well talk about Death of a Bachelor. I love this song so much and the lyrics are so well done and every time I hear this song, it's like I'm in a different world. It's just me, alone, belting out every single verse like I had my heart broken a million times (not true... technically). This song is another all-time favorite.
13) Don't Stop by 5 seconds of summer
They hate this song which is so sad because I love it. Don't Stop is just so fun and it makes me want to dance every single time. Also the music is really fun.
I'm beginning to get exhausted so I'm going to shorten these explanations.
14) Sue Me by Sabrina Carpenter
The perfect flexing on your ex song that you never knew you needed. Also, Sabrina Carpenter's vocal evolution is honestly so impressive and amazing and she's such a talented singer and she's so underrated.
15) Two of Us by Louis Tomlinson
Some things you need to know:
1) This song is amazing
2) *cries for hours* *calms down* *cries again just thinking about it*
3) Literally so amazing.
4) Louis is my favorite 1D member but he's so underrated which is so unfair because his voice is so unique and his songwriting skills are unrivaled (he helped write like 80% of One Direction's songs in case you didn't know).
5) He wrote this song about his mom who died in 2016 and then literally five days later after this song was released, his sister Felicite (who he was so close with) died from a heart attack... My poor boy has been through so much.
16) La Da Dee by Cody Simpson
This one is a major throwback (from 2013 which is literally six years ago). I normally only hear it at restaurants and occasionally out of the blue on the radio but it's such a happy, sweet song and the music is comforting too.
17) One Thing BY ONE DIRECTION
I don't even have to explain myself at this point. One Thing is such a fun dance-worthy song. That's it.
18) How You Get the Girl by Taylor Swift
I don't listen to Taylor Swift a lot but this one for some reason spoke to me (probably because my sister sang it nonstop until it finally grew on me and I admitted I really liked it).
19) You Will Be Found from Dear Evan Hansen
Saw this show on Broadway and loved it and I love this song because it makes me feel less alone sometimes. It just gives you this sense of hope that's really important on rough days.
20) Lovebug by the Jonas Brothers
Even though Nick Jonas is embarrassed by his fetus writing skills, this song is so sweet, innocent, and pure and it puts a smile on my face. The unexpected rock aspect in the last half was pretty great too.
And a bonus because why not:
21) Infinity by One Direction
Another song that has made me cry. This song makes me think of someone specific who didn't care about me but who I cared about (one of my biggest mistakes) but it also just makes me sad in general. Harry Styles' voice really sticks out to me in this song too. He's so talented.
Okay, that surprisingly took me a really long time (but that's also probably because I'm sleep deprived because I have a ridiculous amount of projects due tomorrow, cheers). I hope you're having a lovely day and if you're not, I hope you will soon. Remember you matter, and to always treat people with kindness.
No mourners, no funerals
